Data Analytics Bootcamp

Saturday May 29, 2021 - 8am - 6pm PST

This Data Analytics Bootcamp will be a hands-on experience that will blend activities with lessons. The class will cover relevant tools for students and professionals interested in or currently growing in the field of Data Analytics. Additionally, participants will dig into how to "think like an analyst", receive a list of industry resources, and get a wealth of perspective on professional development around data careers. What you will learn:

  • SQL: Basic syntax, filtering, aggregation, CASE, JOINs, Subqueries, Common Table Expressions

  • Python: Pandas and Seaborn basics, loading data, cleaning/prepping data, exploratory data analysis

  • Tableau: Basic and intermediate visualization types, calculated fields, intermediate design, dashboards, stories

  • Excel: Summary statistics, Pivot Tables, Reference Functions, Basic data visualization

  • Professional Development: LinkedIn protips, interviewing for data roles, data career ladders

  • Industry Resources: Data sources, datasets, blogs, learning sites, books, subject matter experts

Once registered, students will receive a detailed list of the *free* software they will need to have on their computers for a successful class.

The class will be capped at 20 students and the Zoom link will be shared the morning of the class. Class cost is $110, the preferred payment option is Venmo (@JuanSVas), though Zelle and Cash app are also available.

About the Instructor: Juan Sebastian Vasquez is a Data Analyst and a Data Analytics Instructor. By day, he works for a digital media company where he provides regular and ad hoc data analysis and reports using SQL, Excel, Python, and Tableau to help surface business trends, relevant insights, and actionable business opportunities. Juan works closely with the Data Science, Sales, Marketing, and User Experience teams to drive business outcomes. On nights and weekends he works as an instructor with a global technical school and has been teaching data analytics to students of all levels for the past 3 years. Cancellation/Refund Policy: Participants can cancel their class registration for a full refund up until May 15th (2 weeks prior to the class). A refund will be provided in the same manner as payment was made.
